Have you ever known someone who just woke up every day excited to go to work? They're doing what they love to do and making money at the same time.
If so, this was probably very appealing to you. After all, the thought of getting out of bed every day to work a job that you truly love sounds pretty good.
Listen to what Greer Garson, winner of the 1943 Academy Award for best actress, says about work:
“Starting out to make money is the greatest mistake in life. Do what you feel you have a flair for doing, and if you are good enough at it, the money will come.”
Sounds easy, right? but how do you get started?
Doing what you love is a topic that’s been around a long time. Since the invention of the internet, it’s even more popular.
If you’re not enjoying your current job or you simply want to try something you’re passionate about, start asking yourself the right questions when it comes to doing what you love.
Ask yourself these questions and write down the answers.
Make a list of potential careers that you could see yourself enjoying and then narrow that list down to one. It might be that you want to opt out of working entirely and be free to raise your children at home.
The key is to just get your desires out on paper, as this is the beginning of creating the kind of career and life that you love.
People who actually take the time to write down their goals tend to experience more success in life. Why? There’s something about seeing a goal on paper that motivates you to keep moving toward it.
For example, if I want to lose weight and get to my desired size, I would write that goal down and plaster it around my house. I’d definitely put in on my fridge door, as I would see that goal as I open the fridge to grab some food.
When I’m reminded of that goal, it might cause me to close the fridge or grab something healthy instead of unhealthy and fattening.
I might see that goal on the wall by my DVD player and it could remind me that my yoga DVD is right there waiting for me to turn on. If I put it by my front door, it can remind me to get outside and go for a walk.
The point is that seeing my goal helps me remember, “Oh, yeah, I want to lose weight and that takes some action on my part.”
So today, start contemplating what kind of job you would consider fun.
Talk to those who can help you, and do the footwork. You don’t have to know details yet, as they will unfold at the necessary time. If you want to grow your home-based business, write that goal down and begin reading about the best strategies for growing your business.
Write all your goals down and create a plan to execute them.
This doesn’t only apply to your career either. You can use this exact strategy for your personal life too. For example, if you want to spend more quality time with your spouse, write that goal down and devise a plan to make it happen. Discuss the topic with them and implement the plan into your lives.

Finding your dream job may not happen overnight, but you can make it happen step by step.
Today it might be simply taking time to think about what kind of work you might enjoy. Tomorrow you might spend some time doing research or talking your ideas over with someone who can give solid input.
Then you can start writing down plans and strategies.
Try not to think of getting it all accomplished now. Approach the topic in bite-sized chunks. It takes time to make changes – especially big changes. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself and just take it bit by bit. Celebrate milestones and keep focused on short and long-term goals.
Successful people are not just successful because they wished for success.
Those who enjoy careers they love took time and made the effort to make it happen. It wasn’t just handed to them; they earned it. Successful people tend to create goals, action plans, and take action, which for them equals success.
It can for you as well.
Go ahead and give it a try! If you keep doing the same thing you’re doing, you’re going to get the same results. So, start doing some things differently career-wise and expect great results. Keep your chin up and persevere through any tough stuff that may come your way.
You got this!
