When you are struggling with depression, it can seem as though there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

It can seem as though you are alone and there is no hope. The thoughts that go through your mind when you are depressed can seem never-ending and extremely true.

I’ve dealt with a fair share of depression at various stages in my life. While I didn’t always realize what was causing the depression, one thing that helped me was repeating affirmations consistently. It helped me to work with the thoughts going on in my mind.

You see, your mind is in a different state when you are depressed. Negative thoughts contribute to depressed states. To begin to break free of negative thoughts, affirmations can help.

Positive affirmations can be spoken daily to help you in various ways. There are certain positive affirmations you can speak over your life to help with depression.

Certainly, there are times when more help is necessary to break free from depression. If affirmations aren’t helping, you can reach out to a therapist or join a support group. 

Using positive and hopeful affirmations shows the universe that you truly do care about yourself and your well-being. You want to get out of the darkness and back into the light. By telling the universe positive affirmations about yourself and your life, you are attracting positive energies and light back into your life.

Speaking these positive and hopeful affirmations daily will show the universe that you are ready to accept positive energies into your life. Periods of sadness and depression may come in life, but you can be proactive in getting through them.

At the same time, perhaps a level of acceptance of your current state may be helpful. Sometimes resisting emotions can make them stronger. So, love and accept yourself where you are, on the way to where you’re going.

Again, if you find you cannot get yourself out of the depressed state, seeing a professional counselor is a wonderful option, along with utilizing these hopeful affirmations daily. Try to focus on the good in life and see where it takes you. There are always people and resources willing to help you along the journey.

    1. Great to hear Mae! The best we can do is try to be a little bit better than we were the day before. It can be so hard to drown out the negativity, but that's why they call mindfulness a practice - you have to keep working at it.
