Your past trauma and negative experiences shouldn't be excuses for your unpleasant behavior. You have to take responsibility for yourself and do everything you can to fix your life. You have to do the personal work. Traumatic events can leave you bitter, and you may become indifferent to other's feelings. You can still do the right things and strive to be a better person regardless of what happened. Remember that all behaviors have consequences. You can't live a fulfilling life if you hold on to grudges and stay bitter. You have to make an effort to manage your attitude and behavior.
