Our minds receive a constant flow of information all the time.
Every post on your social media feed, every video you watch, and every article you read on the internet - all of it impacts your beliefs, in one way or another.
It’s important to be mindful of the content you consume.
“Every time we ponder a thought, act on an impulse, or dwell on a desire, we are setting in motion a cause that will have a future effect. Mindfulness enables us to choose wisely.” - Tamara Levitt
Choose to engage with content that is positive or educational and see if you feel better, if you notice a difference.
Seek out that inspiration!
We hope that the following stories will guide you toward the path to positivity and kindness.
The Luddite Club is a group of Brooklyn high-school students who meet every Sunday in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, to socialize - without their smartphones.
This group is encouraging others to re-think their relationship with technology.
Kids nowadays get their first smartphones at an early age. Technology consumes too much of their lives and they can find themselves struggling with tech addiction.
The Luddite Club allows members to meet like-minded students who want to break their phone habit.
Stepping away from social media allows them to use their time more creatively, focus on hobbies, and engage in social experiences.
"When there's no phones around at a Sunday meeting, they are drawing painting, singing, dancing, writing. They're doing everything that kids should be doing," said Amanda Hanna-McLeer, documentary filmmaker.
Wesley Swainston’s initiative is helping shelter dogs get adopted into loving families. He takes shelter dogs out for runs, giving them the chance to showcase their true personalities to potential adopters!
He showers them with affection and helps them come out of their shells. And his actions have improved their chances of getting adopted.
Wesley’s videos are now inspiring other people to take their local shelter dogs out for runs.
A Chinese couple has made it their mission to provide comfort to cancer patients and their families.
Wan Zuocheng and his wife Hong Gengxiang run a community kitchen near a hospital in China’s eastern province of Jiangxi. For a nominal price, patients and their relatives can use the kitchen facilities to make healthy, home-cooked meals.
Navigating the cancer journey can be incredibly stressful for patients as well as their relatives. Getting the opportunity to cook and eat warm, nutritious meals gives them respite and helps their recovery.
“No matter what life throws at you, you have to eat. Very often, patients have no appetite. It’s important for them to eat good food,” said Wan Zuocheng.
Doug Owen works from his home in East Nashville. Watching the neighborhood dogs on their walks is one of the highlights of his day.
The dogs bring him so much joy!
He wanted to do something special for them so he put a treat machine outside his lawn. This machine dispenses free dog treats!
“Doug’s Dog Delights” is loved by all the dogs in the neighborhood. It has also given Doug a chance to get to know his neighbors better.
“I've met more people for sure because the neighborhood has changed in the last 5 years,” said Doug.
Doug plans to keep refilling his treats machine indefinitely.
And there you have it!
