This grandma-granddaughter duo is spreading smiles with beautiful crochet pieces

Sheela Bajaj turned her passion for crochet into a business during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Her granddaughter Yukti encouraged her to turn her hobby into a business to help her cope with the lockdown.

Headbands, bookmarks, mug warmers, sweaters, scarves, scrunchies...she can knit them all.

Yukti says, “Being able to earn her own money, I see how much more secure my grandmother has started feeling. Even if the amount is small, the satisfaction of having earned it herself makes her glow. I am so glad I am a small part of enabling this for her.”

Their Instagram page Caught Craft Handed, has been gaining rapid popularity. Sheela now receives orders from all over the world.

Each order is shipped out with a handwritten note and a few extra goodies as well.

Man puts people without a car in the driver's seat

Rural towns have no public transportation, and people have to rely on cars to run errands and to go to work.

But many people are struggling financially and simply cannot afford to buy a car. They have to walk long distances to get where they want to go.

Eliot Middleton who lives in McClellanville, South Carolina saw an opportunity to give back to his community. A restaurant owner and a part-time mechanic, Eliot takes donated cars, fixes them, and gives them away to people in need.

Thousands of people have donated to his mission and so far, more than $190,000 has been raised to cover new parts and repair work.

He recently gave away the 100th car that he repaired!

"The smiles on their faces when I donate a car, got to do another one, got do another one, got to do two more. As long as my two hands can turn wrenches and legs can keep moving I don't see it ever stopping," says Elliot.

This six-year-old boy has the biggest heart

After learning about homelessness, Jackson Price set off on a mission to deliver food to the less fortunate population in the city of St. John's. With some help from his family, he has delivered sandwiches, cold plates, hot chocolates, and soups to the homeless.

Jackson also created Christmas cards to bring some holiday cheer to the people living on the streets.

"I have no idea where he came up with the idea … Like, for someone six years old to fathom the interest in doing something like this." - Jackson's mom, Jennifer Smith.

Jackson's acts of kindness have been making waves in his community. Till now he's been featured in the local newspaper, he's been on TV, and he was invited to speak to a group at Memorial University.

Hundreds of residents at an assisted living facility got their wishes granted

The holidays can be lonely for seniors. Many of the nursing home residents have no visitors or income to buy anything for themselves.

Organized by Barbara Rotunda's nonprofit, Resident's Hope, this gift-giving program is fulfilling wishes for seniors living in Aspire at Seminole Care facility.

Barbara Rotunda and Jean Torell-McDonald collected all the wishes from seniors, coordinated the lists, and did the shopping themselves

Many volunteers helped wrap the gifts and made holiday cards for seniors who were alone for the holidays.

“Ooh, it’s wonderful! And, oh my, it’s handmade! Someone made this for me? I just want to stay here where everyone is so kind," exclaimed resident Karen Erskine, as she opened her present.

This is literally an Uplifting story! This morning as I went down my driveway to collect the newspaper as usual I did not see the patch of black ice and my feet skidded and I fell on my back. I tried scrambling up but couldn't get a foothold in the ice. I lay there in the cold with nobody nearby. When suddenly out of nowhere a car passing by slowed down and a man stepped out. I warned him about the black ice but he very slowly pulled me to the side and gently helped me up. After making sure that I was able to walk and was not hurt he got into his car and drove away before I could even thank him properly or ask his name.
