Every day brings something new. While we can't always control what life throws at us, we can choose how we respond.

We can optimize our choices to ensure we invest our limited energy at the right places.

After all, you're a being made of energy.

 

Where is Your Energy Going?

Pay attention to how you spend your physical, mental, and emotional energy throughout the day.

  • Have you noticed which thoughts leave you feeling drained?
  • Which activities make you feel truly alive?

For example, if a thought about the past comes up, do you let yourself get carried away by it?

Or do you make the conscious choice to come back to the present and truly focus on what’s in front of you?

Take note of how often your decisions are driven by fear, whether it’s:

  • fear of rejection
  • fear of being alone
  • fear of losing what you have

We can’t eradicate fear, but we do have the ability to not let it drive our decisions. Remember, you don't have to try to control the fear. You only need to control your reaction to it.

 

 

Pay Close Attention to Energy Drainers

Cultivating self-awareness empowers you to make deliberate decisions about how you use your energy.

Recognize the energy drainers; these are the activities that chip away at your energy levels, leaving you feeling depleted, often without you realizing it.

  • Ruminating over the past
  • Worrying about things out of your control
  • Taking on more tasks than you can handle
  • Saying yes to everyone, placing other people’s needs over yours
  • Mindlessly scrolling through social media
  • Wanting things to be perfect
  • Eating unhealthy food, not getting adequate rest
  • Centering your self-worth around other people’s opinions

Once you begin to notice the patterns that drain your energy, you can start incorporating activities that help restore and balance it.

For example:

  • set healthy boundaries
  • give yourself space to feel your emotions
  • practice self-compassion in difficult situations

This allows you to maintain enough energy to stay focused on activities that are consistent with what you value most.

 

Start Protecting Your Energy

It’s especially important to create an arsenal of healthy habits you can practice intentionally - regardless of your circumstances, because challenges are an inevitable part of each day.

Things may not work out as expected. You might find yourself caught up in thoughts about the past, worries about the future, or facing a difficult interaction with someone.

By developing an inward awareness of your energy, you can better navigate difficult moments, so you’re not losing more of your energy than you have to.

 

Where your attention goes, your energy follows.

 

Building Your Own Energy Rituals

Start small. Focus on one positive change in your routine at a time.

  • Maybe it’s setting aside 10 minutes for a walk in nature.
  • Or listening to calming music to shift your attention away from distracting thoughts.
  • Instead of reaching for a sugary treat, choose a nourishing piece of fruit.
  • Go to bed early rather than scrolling on your phone.

Your energy can be consistently renewed by building intentional rituals, habits, and behaviors.

No matter what happens, there are always ways to practice healthy habits and recharge your energy.

 

Worrying Drains Your Energy

While it’s true that our lives are shaped by countless factors beyond our control, it’s also true that worrying about them is unproductive.

You can’t be fully present or make the most of what you have when you’re giving your energy to worries that have no place in your current reality.

 

The present is your place of power.

 

The here and now is your opportunity to create outcomes that lead to a rich and fulfilling life.

Protect your energy. Invest it only in what brings value to your life.

 

 

August 2024 Motivational Message - Exploring Spirituality

At some point in our lives, we all go through experiences that make us ponder the meaning of it all.

Some people find their spiritual breakthroughs following a difficult and painful experience.

And others turn to spirituality to seek a meaningful connection with something bigger than themselves, once they find that their outward success doesn't give them the fulfillment they hoped for.

 

Life is filled with questions. There is a lot of noise.

 

Embracing Spiritual Practices

Embracing a spiritual practice can help you to cope with:

  • uncertainty
  • stresses
  • and questions of life

Spirituality enables you to get closer to the feeling of peacefulness and serenity.

It puts you on a path to openness, equipping you to make space for your beliefs and values, and those of others.

 

Every spiritual journey is personal.

This journey of spiritual exploration is deeply personal.

Suggestions from books, videos, wisdom teachings, and other people's experiences can nudge you in the right direction, but ultimately it's yours to explore.

You will come across a variety of theories and ideas pertaining to spirituality, and many of them will appear to be contradictory.

You just have to let your intuition guide you.

 

With practice, you will be able to figure out what works for you

Being curious and having an open mind is the key.  

 

Explore your inner self.

Your first step can be to simply observe everything around and within you.

  • What's in your environment?
  • What is happening around you? 
  • How do you respond to your thoughts and fears?

Spending time in silence allows you to embrace the messages of your inner self.

Journaling is a great habit to integrate into your spiritual practice, especially if you're a beginner.

Explore your feelings and thoughts. Reflect on your experiences and strengthen your awareness to cut through the noise and let the answers emerge.

 

 

Create your own, personal practice. 

Create a spiritual practice that is focused on being present.

Choose your thoughts carefully.

A spiritual practice can lead to inexplicable feelings of awe and wonder. There are many ways to experience this, such as:

  • Breathwork
  • Meditation
  • Prayer
  • Spending time in nature
  • Gratitude practice
  • Yoga
  • Cosmic Exploration

A spiritual practice empowers you with the insights and tools you need to overcome obstacles, cope with unfortunate circumstances, your own biases, and the projections of your ego and that of others.

Difficult circumstances can evoke intense feelings in you, ranging from anger to hopelessness.

Building a strong connection with something bigger than yourself can bring a much-needed sense of comfort and relief.

 

Find comfort in connection.

Everything is connected. 

When you get in touch with your spirituality, you begin to experience a profound shift in the way you see yourself and the world. Everything appears different from what you had previously assumed about life and the world.

You experience a deep connection with the oneness that binds us all. 

Embracing uncertainty is one of the most difficult yet most important aspects of a spiritual journey. The more you chase certainty, the more you find yourself getting obsessed with confirming the veracity of spiritual ideas and lessons.

 

Take your time and enjoy the journey!

Remember, there's always more than what our eyes can see. It is not all that is.

This personal exploration of spirituality is all about making space for unanswered questions, contradictions, and mysteries of the universe.  

Allow yourself to move beyond logic.

We all want things to sail smoothly. Yet life doesn't work that way.

Life will always throw challenges at you, which can leave you feeling exhausted and hopeless.

You feel like the world is out to get you.

 

But deep down there's a voice that says to you, everything will be fine.

 

That small voice within yourself is a reminder of your inner power.

When you are in touch with your inner power you can bravely face life's storms.

You can develop the resilience to bounce back stronger. 

The key to building resilience lies in our perception.

 

 

Resilience: Depend on Yourself

Despite all the things you've been through, you can still become a happier person. But you're the one who has to make that decision for yourself.

You're the only person you can truly depend on.

 

Change is a fact of life. Use it to your advantage. Stop obsessing over a fixed narrative such as, "Good things never happen to me" or "I'm a loser who can't get anything right".

No situation is permanent.

 

You have to make a conscious effort towards rebuilding your well-being and sense of peace and happiness.

Throughout the month of August, make time to sort through your feelings and prioritize self-care to get yourself in a better headspace.  

 

When you learn to better regulate your emotions and reframe challenging situations, you can reduce the impact of adverse events on your well-being.

 

The negative thoughts will keep coming. You have to take time to acknowledge them and organize them regularly. Otherwise, they will keep festering in your mind, and eventually turn into harmful beliefs.

When you're angry and resentful, your life seems worse than it actually is.

 

While it's important to reframe your perspective, you need to give yourself enough time to feel your negative feelings too. It's not realistic to assume that all the healing will happen instantly.

Some days will be harder than others.

You just have to make sure you're taking steps in the right direction.

 

You have to let your negative thoughts out, either by talking to a trusted person or writing about it. Make space for healing.

 

Positive thoughts and gratitude can help you keep the darkness at bay.

With good mental health habits in place, you can improve your ability to handle difficult times.

Remember that life will unfold as it's meant to.

Some things in life require conscious effort, and for others, you just have to let time bring you the answers.

Just keep going.
