This student-led project is lifting spirits one call at a time

A group of students at Bondurant Middle School in Frankfurt, Kentucky are on a mission to spread kindness and happiness.

Campbell Goins, Avery Bishop, Eleanor Bishop, and Emma Collingsworth are known for performing acts of kindness.

From handing out candies with a note, to serving cold beverages to teachers, these four girls spread kindness in the school hallways every day.

With the help of counselor Brooke Fell and the school staff, these four young girls created The Kind Line, a hotline students can call when they need some words of encouragement.

When students call The Kind Line, they hear uplifting messages, inspirational quotes, and sometimes, even jokes.

"We know that there are kids in our school that aren't always — they don't feel included in the school, and sometimes they don't feel connected," said Campbell Goins.

"Honestly, I just like to make people feel better," said Eleanor Bishop.

A little girl secretly pays for police officers' meal to express her gratitude

10-year-old Liu Yanxi knew she wanted to do something special for the police officers the moment she saw them entering the local restaurant.

Having the deepest respect for the police, Liu asked her father if they could secretly pay for their meal.

Liu believed the police did a difficult job and wanted to express gratitude for their service.

“Can I pay for the police officers? They get wet in the rain,” she said.

The father and daughter left the restaurant after paying the police officer's bills.

Once the two police officers found out about the act of kindness, they tracked the little girl and gifted her a backpack full of goodies to thank her.

Stories like these remind us that small, thoughtful gestures can truly leave a lasting impact on people.

Mexican man shows amazing ingenuity by turning seaweed into houses

Omar Vasquez saw an opportunity where others saw a problem.

Sargassum is a type of invasive seaweed that washes up on beaches of the Mexican Caribbean. Omar found a way to turn sargassum into building blocks called Sargablock.

These blocks are organic, and sustainable and are expected to last for 120 years.

Having struggled with poverty in his childhood, Omar knows how hard it can be to survive without any help. That's why he stepped up to build homes for struggling families out of Sargablocks.

“The first thing that came to my mind and heart was to donate houses to women like my mother, who are doing everything in their power to make it work,” said Omar.

Kindness matters: Students spread kindness around Westside High School

Students at Westside High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas participated in a kindness project where they wrote handwritten cards and delivered flowers to their favorite teachers.

Led by teacher Stacy Sample Wright, this kindness project is about spreading positivity and expressing gratitude to the people who play a major role in students' development in their formative years.

"I realize that they are on their way out to the real world soon, and I just want to give them opportunities to work kindness into the curriculum, and this gives them a tangible way to do that", says Sample-Wright.

She hopes that this tradition will keep kindness going in Westside High School for the years to come.
