Voices Off welcomes people of all abilities to practice the sign language of the Australian Deaf community, Auslan.
Supported by The Deaf Butterfly Effect, this social group gives people a safe space to improve communication and connection. Founders Kiara Murphy and Eve Marlow aim to foster a supportive environment where people who are deaf or hard of hearing can feel included.
They make their events as accessible as possible to bring greater awareness to the deaf community.
"It's better for deaf people, so that people can understand why it is that they should learn Auslan, for us, we do need more interpreters in society," said Gail Pittaway, a participant.
Sometimes, we all need a little reminder to slow down and connect with what brings us joy. Regardless of the challenges, there’s always good to be found in every single day.
Junior League of Lake Charles, a non-profit based in Louisiana celebrates ‘Find the Good Day’ to share kindness and positivity with others.
The organization regularly hosts events to bring the community closer together and inspire a positive outlook on life.
“Find the Good Day, is finding the good in everything we do, through community service efforts. We fight hunger, we support local shelter, we support literacy, we empower young minds and through that, we are able to spread kindness and spread a positive change in our community,” said Sierra Higgins, Community Director for the JLLC.
Leah Hope’s incredible weight loss journey has become a source of inspiration for many. After experiencing a rock-bottom moment in 2022, she made a commitment to live a "big life” by making “small” changes.
The desire to live a fulfilling life was a major driving force behind her decision.
Her commitment paid off and how!
She has lost over 200 pounds by incorporating small changes into her daily routine. Her videos provide insights into her journey, inspiring others to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
"I wanted to gain life more than I wanted to lose weight. There's a much bigger picture that this is not about wanting a smaller body, but it is about chasing a bigger life," said Leah.
Michele Haines Lee aka Granny Bee lights up every room with her infectious energy.
Michele is a 75-year-old retiree who has been bringing joy to children by volunteering in several local schools. She puts on a bright bumblebee costume and reads stories to children!
Michele also sprinkles valuable life lessons into her storytelling sessions. She brings smiles and laughter to everyone she meets.
"You know it fills my heart, but it makes me feel relevant. And I thought, if I can do something to make a difference, it makes me feel good. It makes me feel proud," said Michele.
