If you’re interested in personal development, you’ve probably heard about the law of attraction. Since the launch of the movie, The Secret, many people have been using this law to attract the kind of life they truly desire.

The law of attraction is a philosophy suggesting that positive thoughts bring positive results into a person's life, while negative thoughts bring negative outcomes. The law of attraction certainly does work, but there may be times when you feel like you are doing everything according to the law, but you’re still not getting the results you would like.  

Granted, some people might not think that this universal law works, but I assure you that there are multitudes who have tapped into this and use it daily. 

If you are not getting the results you want, or you feel like the law of attraction is not working for you, read through this list of possible reasons why you may not be attracting what you desire.

8 Things to Consider if You're Not Attracting What You Desire

1. You Have Lots of Doubt  

Is it possible that somewhere inside you doubt that the law of attraction is effective?

Maybe you’ve heard other people put it down or dismiss it and part of you actually questions the validity of the success claims. Take a few minutes and really gauge your thoughts associated with the law of attraction.

If you think for a moment that you hold doubt, let it go and make a firm decision to believe in the law of attraction wholeheartedly.

2. You Say One Thing, But Perform Contrary Actions

Maybe you’re saying one thing and doing something that doesn’t jive with your desires.

For example, if you desire a new career but don’t take any action toward attaining that career, you are in conflict. You can affirm that your desire is to change jobs, but if all you do is desire it and don’t act upon your dreams, not much will happen. 

Desire, belief, and corresponding actions equal manifestation of your desires. Also, if you want something, but your thoughts don’t line up with that desire, the law of attraction will probably not work for you. Your thoughts must line up with your desires.

3. You’re Holding Onto The Past

If all you’re doing is thinking about your past, you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

Sure, sometimes it’s alright to remember your past, but if you’re stuck there, you may find yourself stuck.

The past is over, so do your best to let it go. Forgive yourself for any mistakes that you have made and learn from them. Live in the present moment and look expectantly for your bright future.

4. Negative Thoughts Are Dominating

If your mindset is primarily negative, the law of attraction may not work for you.

For example, if you want an expensive car, but then feel guilty about spending so much money on a car when there are plenty of people in poverty, your guilty feelings may limit the law of attraction’s influence. 

5. You Are Being Lazy

The law of attraction is a wonderful asset for you, but only if you do your part.

If you just spew out your desires to the universe and sit on your butt all day doing nothing, chances are the law of attraction will not work for you. 

Keep in mind that it’s not magic. There is a formula associated with the law of attraction and if you don’t understand it or neglect part of it, you may not get the success you want.

If you desire something, you must ask for it, believe that it is yours, take the necessary actions, and expect to receive it. If you skip the part of actually believing it is possible by having positive thoughts and actions, the law of attraction might not work for you.

6. Ungratefulness

If you live in a state of ungratefulness for what you have, you are really emitting negative energy into the universe. This will repel positive things from heading your way.

Ungratefulness repels positivity. If you are griping about your rotten life and then expect to receive a bunch of blessings, chances are you will not.  

Offer gratitude for what you have right now and for what will manifest in your life at any given moment. Let the words “thank you,” flow through you abundantly.

Be thankful for your breath, health, shelter, food, water, clothing, the blue sky, beautiful flowers, and so on. Let gratitude be a huge part of your life.

7. Feelings Of Unworthiness

If you carry around significant feelings of unworthiness, the law of attraction might not work for you.

Sometimes it’s easy to feel like you might not deserve this or that, but the truth of the matter is that you are worthy in and of yourself. You don’t have to do anything in order to be worthy of love and goodness.

The universe wants goodness to flow to every soul and to believe in that is very helpful. Let go of any past mistakes or negative things people have said about you. You are not who others say you are.

You are a precious creation and you are worthy of love, blessings, and any other thing that you really desire. When feelings of unworthiness pop up, immediately begin confessing positive affirmations about yourself and visualize yourself blessed and happy. You are worthy!

8. Surrounded By Negativity

Do you live in an environment that is quite negative?

Are you surrounded by naysayers and people who continually complain and emit negative energies? If so, you could be allowing the negativity to impact you more than you think.

Yes, you can remain positive and allow the law of attraction to work for you even if you are in a negative atmosphere. But if you are not careful, the negativity can affect you.

You might not even realize it, but that negative energy may suck your positive energy right out of you. It is important to surround yourself with positive people that emit positive energy as often as you can.

The old saying that you turn into who you hang around has some truth to it. Hang around with others who believe in the power of the law of attraction.

 

Are You Blocking the Law of Attraction?

These are simply some of the reasons why the law of attraction may not be working for you.

Once you have addressed these issues, you should witness more desires manifesting in your life. Remember to be patient and grateful for what you already have. Walk around with a smile on your face and live in a state of expectancy.

You never know when your desires will arrive, but believe that they surely will.

  6. I love this sight too! I’m not sure how I came across it…I’m at a time in my life where I feel really down bad about things I’ve done and said and been through…trying to come through.
