If you’ve ever played a sport, then you understand firsthand the concept of coaching.

Without a coach, many athletes would not have a career or positive experiences. In life, sometimes we need a bit of coaching too. Fortunately, there are Life Coaches that offer help.

Life Coaching is such a rewarding career, as you get to help others excel in the areas that they desire to succeed in. There are many Life Coaches that have taken their life experiences and interests and created a career that they love.

In fact, Life Coaching increases year after year because people are finding it so valuable.

If you have been thinking of how to become a professional Life Coach, you probably have some questions as to how to do so. It’s not as difficult as you might think, and it doesn’t take that long to become a trained coach.

5 Steps for You to Become a Talented Personal Life Coach

1. Ask yourself why.

The first thing to address when becoming a Life Coach is asking yourself why you want to coach people in the first place.

  • Is it because you’ve been helped by one and the experience was so wonderful you want to help others?
  • Have you always had a desire to help others?
  • Do you have particular experience in an area where people need help with?
  • Do you want to have freedom of your schedule?

Sit down and list the reasons why you want to become a Life Coach.

2. Research Life Coaching certification programs.

You do not have to become certified in order to do Life Coaching, but experts believe that it is highly valuable if you do.

You may feel more confident in yourself too. And, people coming to you will feel more secure if they know that you have been through a certified Life Coaching program.

The reality is that you will gain much needed information completing one from those who have been coaching for quite some time. Do some research on various Life Coaching certification programs and decide on one that suits you.

3. Get a Life Coach.

A great way to learn about the Life Coaching business is to get yourself one.

You can be inspired and motivated to change any area in your life that needs changed and learn a lot about the change process. It is always a good idea to have a Life Coach to motivate you to be at your best.

4. Enroll in a certification program.

Most programs will teach you step by step what you need to do in order to begin your own Life Coaching business.

It really is the best way to go as far as coaching, as they will help you get the coaching and the business end of coaching set up. Go ahead and get enrolled in a reputable program and begin learning as soon as you can.

5. Practice with your friends.

If you want some practice coaching, go ahead and ask your friends or family members who would like some free coaching. I’m sure you can find one or two people willing to make some changes in their lives.

Think Positively

While you’re training and once you’re certified, keep a positive attitude toward getting new clients.

Chances are people won’t be coming in droves, but believe that there are many people out there who could benefit from Life Coaching. Celebrate each one as they come to you.

Positive thinking can be used for anything in your life, including attracting new clients. Positivity can bring positive experiences and opportunities. You could try meditating, writing positive affirmations and dwelling on them daily, or just by being optimistic.

Positive Affirmations

If you want to be happy in your career as a Life Coach, you must first be fairly happy with yourself. If you feel depressed constantly and unworthy of happiness, it’ll be more challenging to create the kind of life you truly desire.

Positive affirmations can help. Try writing down everything you love about yourself and your life. Even if it does not apply to a career, write down anything that comes to mind.

If you have great hair, write it down. If you have pretty teeth, write it down. Are you extremely compassionate and caring? Write it down. This will, in a way, start to give your ego the boost that it needs to be more confident in your career and personal life.

Meditation/Quiet Time

Take time each day to enjoy some meditation or quiet time.

If you begin your day with a quiet mind, you’re more apt to be at your best as you coach others. You can also take time throughout the day to get quiet. Coaching others can pull your energy, so be sure you’re taking time to recharge regularly.

You may want to take walks in nature, listen to soothing music, do some yoga, or whatever works for you.

I don't get the roundabout way of saying that needing a coach for a natural gift and grace of God. I see why I don't have this interest. One believes that knowledge of the Spirit is walking in the spirit. I believe in the word of God and he gives us what we need when we need it. When you say try this with family and friends, you got to seek the his help through the spirit. Now it has become a business and not a need.

Becoming a Life Coach based on own life experiences is such a rewarding activity to engage with. Been doing so for almost 30 years working with the government. Way forward, continue doing it but this time around, need to find way/s to monetize it passively and automatically. How? Any suggestions? Many thanks

Thanks for the feedback Yusri. Our best advice is to do your research to see how you could proceed, and reach out to your network - if you've been doing it for 30 years, there are probably some people who could help you out?
