Have you ever been around a person with a consistently negative attitude?
The negativity that surrounds that person seems to suck your positive energy right out of you. The law of attraction states that bad attitudes emit negative vibes and can cause a person to live life complaining and feeling other negative emotions.
Your attitude will affect your life one way or another.
If you want to live more often in a state of happiness and peace, adopt a positive attitude, no matter what circumstance you find yourself in.
Have you ever known a person who just seemed happy no matter what was going on in his or her life?
Maybe they got laid off, but still they walked around smiling and optimistic.
Perhaps they didn’t get the promotion they wanted, yet they continued to believe that one day they would. They may have come to understand that optimism and a great attitude gets them much further in life and makes them feel good.
Sure, they could go around sulking in self-pity all the time, but they choose not to.
Optimistic people are not born optimists.
They simply choose to adopt a positive perspective regardless of what situations they find themselves in or obstacles that come their way. Becoming an optimist is not necessarily easy, but it is possible and becomes easier with practice.
One thing optimists learn along the way is that their thoughts and feelings today have an influence on their lives in the future. Positivity breeds more positivity and negativity breeds more negativity.
Make a conscious decision to adopt a positive attitude regardless of what comes your way.
I assure you that things won’t always go as planned.
You won’t always get what you want, obstacles will come, people will do things that you don’t want them to do, it will rain when you want it to be sunny, the bill will be larger than expected, and on and on.
What attitude will you choose?
I’m telling you that today you can choose to have a great attitude when all of those things happen. You can choose to smile even when it is raining golf ball sized hail. Look for the bright side and the silver lining. Be optimistic!
Now, I’m not saying that we should never feel negative feelings or be pessimistic.
We’re not shooting for perfection here, and it’s a good thing, because most people experience an ebb and flow of emotions. That being said, though, we can aim to feel more positive, hopeful emotions than negative with some practice.
Have you ever heard the statement, “Birds of a feather flock together?”
Basically, what this means is that you start to adopt the mindsets of those who you hang around with. If you want to have a great attitude toward life, primarily hang around others that already have a great attitude toward life.

Be aware of who is sucking your positive energy from you. If you’re able to discuss the situation with them, let them know how you feel. If they won’t change, stay away from them as best as you can.
If you aren’t able to stay away from them, such as a co-worker, do your best to repel those negative vibes and just go about your business. Spread your positive vibes no matter what others are doing.
Your attitude certainly impacts your life, so you want to be sure that it is positive much of the time.
It will take a conscious decision, as well as practice. Think positive thoughts, speak positive words, and surround yourself with positive people as often as you can.
As you do, you should notice that you see the sunshine more often in all areas of your life and even when it is raining, you can still smile!
As Frances Hodgson Burnett put it, “If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”

My mom could suck the life out of a small country bar on fish fry night. A waitress would say, here's (my mom's name) and all would go quiet. It's made it hard for me to be very positive, but at least I work on it. I have 3 great grand kids that need me to not be like her. I must be doing okay cause the oldest (7 yr. old) always wants to spend the night with us.
Hahah you paint a vivid picture Deb! From the sounds of it though, you seem to be setting a different example for your grandkids - I doubt they'd want to spend extra time with you otherwise. 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
